Dog show/event judges
are individuals who are called upon to adjudicate the best conformation,
obedience, tracking, agility, or performance dog on the day or in the
class. They have varied background, experiences and interests.
All judges began as amateurs and, while some have branched into
fee-paying professionalism, most are still amateurs who agree to travel
many miles to adjudicate for little more than expenses. Judges
participate at this level of the sport because they enjoy what they are
doing, are dedicated to the task at hand, and want to give something
back to that element of the sport of purebred dogs that has given them
so much joy.

What is a
Provisional Judge?
A judge must complete five judging assignments in each provisional breed
and should be observed at least three times by the Executive Field
Staff. More than five assignments may be accepted.
Upon completion of the five judging assignments, the judge must request
regular status in writing to the Judging Operations Department of the
American Kennel Club. |
